  10. the rocks of yorkshire
    sprouted like a garden
    blooms in grey
    they will never die
    for a wedding bouquet

    i love like stone
    i live like the song
    that walks by itself
    while centuries collide
    to find us here
    crossed in stories
    crossing moors
    from dark to light
    and back again
    the price of day
    is shadow and night
    and i cannot bring myself
    to pay
    when nature finds amusement
    in pitting one against another
    when we all know
    no one wins
    no one finds lessons in
    the poppies that fight
    to push through earth
    above eventual graves
    devastating and lovely
    they mock the landscape
    and all for
    a simple love
    and all for

    this is where we live
    this is how we love
    hard and eternal
    while others fall away
like leaves in fear of winter
    would that i could float
    on such spiraling whims
of winds that do not care,
on that day that i fall
    to the ground.
